Hello everyone!!! I live in Northeast Tennessee and I am getting as much info as I possibly can before I venture into winemaking. There is a local vineyard that has been extremely helpful with all sorts of info so far. I planted my first vine last year and am waiting to see if it makes it through our winter before I plant anymore. I am going to make muscadine wine once I get started. I love the stuff!!!!

Once my vine comes out of dormancy, I plan on planting 4 more vines to help keep my costs down in a few years. If they all produce normally, I should get around 400 lbs of grapes a year. I plan on trying my hand at making the juice as well.

Thanks!!! I haven't purchased any equipment just yet. I am still about 10 months out before I start my first batch. I have been looking around and shopping for the best prices. MAN, those presses and crushers are EXPENSIVE!!! :sh I am probably going to make a small batch for my first attempt. I just wish I could discover the results a little faster though. :( There are some good equipment packages out there.

Welcome don't wait ten months to get started making wine get some one gallon jugs and try some simple wines to get your feet wet you will learn a lot from this forum. You will also want to get a good book on pruning your vine and installing trellis systems I know I already was in your place getting started I have around 150 vines right now. good luck
