Hi everyone,

We are booting back up our wine making adventure since our move. This forum has been a huge help with our endeavors thus far.

We've made some cheap juice and yeast wines in the past that've turned out great, and a kit pinot grigio that failed horribly (we've got lots of cooking wine now! :D)

As of last night, we have the following in primaries:
- Cabernet Sauvignon (Alexanders concentrate)
- Cranberry Spice (frozen concentrates with cinnamon sticks and chopped raisins)
- EdWort's Apfelwein

I'm excited to see how these all turn out! :d

How did a kit wine fail?? Glad to have you here. Dont have high hopes for that Alexanders concentrate! IMO they are pretty bad unless you use them to make a blend to hide what they truly are. If you want to make a red wine then grapes or high end kits is the way to go and really the higher end kits do produce great wines. The smaller the concentrate the worse they are and the Alexanders is the smallest out there! When I say making a blend I mean like making a Blackberry Merlot or something similar by adding a fruit or fruit juice to it or making that separate and blending afterwards.

Thanks everyone!

We failed the kit, more like. :s I'm fairly certain it got contaminated. We were a little too cavalier then. We have since corrected our ways and taken the good advice of the folks here. With the Alexanders, we used 3 cans because we read from several different people that it comes out weak if you follow the directions on the can strictly.
