Good day everyone. My name is Brian & I am quite new to wine making. As of now 3 batches. The first of which was a poor recipe I pulled from the Internet. Since then I've found a local wine making shop & been studying the forums & books. My local homemade wine shop is owned & operated by a gentleman that is both knowledgeable & enjoyable to talk to. I've set aside other hobbies I've had for years to pursue this newly found passion. Thank you all for all the insight & information you offer. I have built up enough questions in my mind that I'm sure I'll be posting them soon.

Regards,
Brian

Brian welcome to the forum and your new obsession as you'll soon find out. I would suggest you buying a wine kit if your guy sells them. It will give you an understanding of the process, there are many to choose from and they are almost fool proof. Feel free to ask questions and we'll be happy to walk you through any process.Once again welcome aboard!

Thank you

I am looking into some kits, but for the next week or two, I'm going throw together some recipes from a book I have. My first "real" batch was grape concentrate , pectic, acid, campden & nutrient, borgovin(not sure of the spelling) yeast. Also, I used cane sugar. That was on 5-17 & I'm setting at .994 in the secondary.
I'm truly looking forward to ordering some good merlot or cab grapes & starting a batch - but I'm thinking about going with a good kit first for some instruction & learning.

Thank you,
Brian
