I collect wine and in all my years have never had a home made wine that I have really liked. I know it can be done, but what is the trick? Any tips from home makers out there would be great!

The only trick I know is, persistance, patience, and experience. Ooops... I guess that's 3 tricks. There are good and bad ones out there, you just need to fing them. Attending a home winemaker's competition will put you within reach of some very noteworthy homemade wines.

Yeah - knowledge helps out. Learn which wines should be at what starting SG and what the target TA and PH levels should be and maintaining proper SO2 levels. I have learned a lot of these things from this forum - so hang around ask questions - and you will be on your way to making a homemade wine that you like :h

I agree with the two folks above but what I would suggest is to call George at Fine Vine Wines or our other sponsor at Midwest and tell them exactly what wine you like. The could set you up with an excellent kit wine to make. The make excellent award winning wines and are relatively easy to make. All ingredients are included. After making these you could move on buying juice from quite a few places that comes from Chile, California or Italy. Stick around and we'll help you through it. By the way welcome to the forum.

Follow the recipe and advice of those intelligent ones on here. There are many on board. Don't try short cuts. There is a reason why each step is taken. Measure correctly and make sure you can read a hydrometer correctly.
