Some of you may have read my horror story post about a good buddy that was just doing all of the wrong things regarding wine making - even after 20 plus years...
Well, I am happy to say that after his 3rd visit to my place and a lot of questions and taste testing, he finally asked me if I would help him learn the "right" way to make wine... testing, adjusting, fermenting, and oh yeah...SANITIZING and keeping things spotless and rodent free!
This is going to be a lot of fun, at least now I can enjoy getting all "OCD" with wine making and have a good friend to toss ideas back and forth with!

~ Converting them...one old timer at a time~

LMAO!

Great story! I have a friend who has made nail polish remover for many years. I suppose an intervention is in order one of these days.

You should delete these threads and invite him to join the forum!

Glad to hear it. Your description of his "wine" making setup was truly horrendous.

I hope I can convince my sister to improve her methods. She ferments in 1 gallon plastic juice jugs, and I've told her many times to go get some glass jugs. She also buys the wrong kind of juice and doesn't age her wine before bottling it.

That is good to hear, you have had a positive affect on him. Just remember that he has been doing this longer than you, so he just might have some good tips for you in other areas of wine making. This way both of you can grow.

Good luck and have fun!

Yep..., ya know after a post like that, i can't even bring myself to wisecrack about him not being in charge of sanitation...LMAO...Sorry...bad Tom...

really glad to hear it....good for you, and yes, you probably will wind up learning from each other....
