Would like to start a new batch with blueberry how many or how juice would you use

Guess it depends on how much you want to make and what kind you want to make, here is a good place to start:

Jack Keller Winemaking

I am getting ready to do a variation of one of his strawberry recipes. Good luck with the blueberries!

Jack Keller recipes tend to be light on fruit. Suggest using 5 pounds of fruit per gallon of wine.

If you are making a gallon you will need to start with @1 1/2 gallons. 3 gallons start with almost 4 gallons and for a 5 gallon batch you start with 6 gallons. You always need a little extra for topping off and accounting for loosing some mass due to sediment.

There are many great recipes in our Recipe section here on this forum.

If you are new try starting with a can of blueberry concentrate just to get the hang of it.

I use Vinters Harvest 96oz cans of juice. I just finished bottling my blueberry and it turned out nice, a little strong at 13.5% ABV though. I make 6 gal batches so I also add 3 or 4 cans of the 11.5 oz welches frozen 100% juice. This keeps it from getting too thin. There are directions on the can as well. Just remember, check the SG. The welches frozen juice has sugar in it so you don't need to add as much sugar as the directions call for. I shoot for an SG of 1.080 to start.

Made a batch last year for the first time. Used 15 lbs for 3 gal. Turned out really good. Planning on doing it again

Ok thanks we have about 15 right now in freezer going to pick more tomorrow. We want to do a 5 gal batch.
