How should wine taste during bulk storage

I am on my first kit, a Crushendo Syrah, and so far I think everything has gone OK. I am on day 14 of bulk storage (I added some additional oak cubes) and am planning to store for 2 more weeks, then after an additional racking will store for another month before bottling. Today I tasted the wine to test the oak. It seemed very tannic and lacked much fruit. Is this normal? What should a kit wine taste like at this stage? Thanks

you should be able to blow sawdust out when you drink it at this stage. The Tannins will mellow with age (1 or 2 Years). the oak cubes will impart some tannins too. It just takes Patience to wait that long but the best is yet to come.
