I broke my hydrometer!

Yeah, I could see how having the finer accuracy could be handy. Actually, one at both ends makes sense to me...if you want to have a closer idea of your ABV% potential and also to determine your final ABV%. Cool.

The Herculometer twice the cost but well worth it. I use standard triple scale but my finish hydrometer is a Herculometer. Never broke a triple scale but broke 2 finish ones.

The herculometer is the plastic one, right. I had one that initially matched other hydrometers I have, but after about 6 months, it read off by about. 02. I no longer own one.

I didn't know it was plastic till I went and checked... after I saw your post. When I pulled it out of it's package, I was wondering why there was a seam in the glass, but I never thought it was plastic..

Just ordered another a glass one from Amazon. I am kicking myself a bit because the one that broke had a thermometer in it too. Funny thing is that I never used the thermometer, but I want one.
