to whomever suggested i also check craigslist, thank you!
i checked today and just typed in "glass" for western ky, looking for any glass jugs or carboys. well, low and behold, there is a listing that says "winemaking supplies". turns out, it's just the next town in the next county and she even knew my grandmother!!!
i got 4 cases of beer bottles, 4 cases of wine bottles, 3 five gallon carboys (i could hear the "aaahhh" music, lol), malt (?), a capper with 2 bags of caps, a bottle filler (but it was in pretty rough shape:( ), some older ingredients that i ditched, some new ingredients that are unopened but have no exp. date. i may post pics later to get advice on using any of those. the yeast had exp. dates of 2011 and 2012. a small plastic bucket and a bottle cleaner!!! wow, i felt like i'd won the lottery. she asked 100 $ and i gave it without question. the carboys alone were worth that!!!
(may have to try a batch of beer with that malt, lol)

Nice score! I always just do a search for "wine" on Craigs List. I picked up 2 three gallon carboys last weekend for $15. They had a bunch of 5 & 6 gallons for $20/25 but I passed those up. Actually several weeks ago some folks were selling 5 & 6 gallons for $15 which I think is a fair price for used carboys but I have enough for now. They were selling 1/2 & 1 gallons for $2 and I offered them $1 each and they turned it down. They had about 50 of them. Oh well, I hope they got their money. If anyone around my area needs carboys I can hook you up with a guy selling them for 3/$50. Rodo picked some up last month.

I wished that I lived closer having hard time finding them here in Nebraska

ya I can find stuff on craigslist but it always clear across the country to far and to expensive to ship

Great find.. Did you get to talk any about her knowing your Grandmother? It's special finding people who know you in different ways, but don't really know you!

I don't go to Craig's list very often to look.
It's like listening to Country music,, to depressing.. I hate seeing bargins and not having the cash to get them.

yes we did! i not only made a score, but made a friend, too!
my grandmother worked in the local grocery in that county for years. she's one of those ladies that knows everyone and everyone loves her, lol. she retired a year ago and moved to illinois near my sister and aunt (still a short drive thankfully), but everyone misses her.
i think i'll makes craigslist a regular, lol.

I have three antique wine/fruit presses. Large one is wooden 40" tall, the other two smaller ones are metal, 20" and 14" tall. $150 for all three or $95, $45, $35 respectively according to size. All in excellent shape.

Location: North Stonington

Yeah - a lot of times i can't search just "Wine" - too many things are listed, wine glasses, wine colored couches, etc.

So i have to narrow my searches to find it. Wine Press, bottle filler, wine making, etc..

sorry for the sideways pic
there are no dates on the packages. she said she purchased them last year.
the malt has no date on the outside, but when u take off the lid, the yeast exp. 11/2009.
any thoughts?

Craigslist has been great to me too - just picked up my 3rd 5gal carboy for $20 last week.

While searching for 'WINE MAKING" items I have also run across a few people selling their home made wine. While normally I'm not a 'flagger' I do flag these ads. If they continue selling their product we all may get a little more attention than we want. i.e. regulation on either Craigslist or on home wine / brew.

Love all the info here! Kudos to all the contributors!
