I really don't like the idea of this, but I saw a video of someone making "Army Worm Wine". My plumb trees are loaded and the ground is covered with red plumbs. The problem is, each plumb has a little black spot on it and when you open the plumb up there is a little white worm. You know the questons, will it taste bad, will it kill me, will it make me sick (other than the thought of drinking worm juice). Again, I don't mean a few plumbs, every plumb has a worm. I'm sure a few get thru in the wineries, but I'm talking a lot of worms. If your answer is to go for it, I'll send you the first bottle and wait a couple of weeks before I try it.
Thanks

Id cut that area out myself and treat the trees against these next year.

He's just trying to get that first bottle :)

We have the same thing with a plum tree but most are falling off before they ripen, all and every one have at least one hole in them.

I would think if you used say a mellon baller or something to core out the worm and surrounding area there wouldn't a problem

I wouldn't hesitate to cut out the entire bad spot and use the rest.

(If you do, I'll take the first bottle.)

If you are thinking about fermenting your wine with the worms, I would strongly advise against it. The meat in the worms can introduce all kinds of "nasties" that you really do not want. Like that other have said, I would cut the little buggers out.

From experience do not ferment what you would not eat. A simple rule of thumb I now follow religiously. I had some wormed cherries fruit was still firm but the little beggars were inside the only batch I dumped totally undrinkable.

Yep, not the kind of "mouth-feel" one would expect. :d

Thanks for the replys, I think I'll pass on em. I sprayed them just before they bloomed, sprayed them while in full bloom and sprayed them after the blooms fell off. I used liquid sevin, must not have been the right kind of spray. I'll try again next year.
