Hello- I joined a month or two ago- this is my first post. Just want to say "Hi" to all and tell you, I'm so freak'n excited I get home from work and check my carboy's like their my pet's. Great fun.

Well TheoS glad you are that excited and welcome to winemakingtalk

Thanks. I started a CC kit in March- bulk aging now. Just received an RJS kit last week. I'm so hooked it ain't funny. (I think my golf buddies are tired of hearing about my wine ). A coulpe of folks have already helped me with degassing questions, temp and fermentation etc. Great community.

TheoS welcome to the party. Not only is it an obsession but it is something special you can pass down through generations. If you're not sure about anything please ask and we'll walk you through it. I think one of the most important things to do first is make something your wife will enjoy. That goes a long ways into getting her support for future purchases.

Welcome TheoS,

Yep, it really is exciting and fun. I tend to be a little compulsive, so when I started, I "really" started. Now I complain because I only have 13 carboys and when they are all full at the same time, I go into a deep, dark depressive state. :rn:rn

It absolutely is addicting! I've only been doing it since November and I already have several batches going at once, I want to try everything! Too bad most of it won't be bottled for several months. Stuff that I have already bottled and are ready to drink goes quick. I don't have any children and I think the dogs are getting jealous of all the attention I pay to the carboys.

djrock- I think it's only a problem when you start giving names to the yeasts!

Welcome TheoS the reasone djrock talks to his carboys is that he has a bottle in the other hand

Yep, I still get excited staring at the airlock when those bubbles start to dance!
I knew i had crossed over to the dark side when my wife caught me gently wrapping a blanket over my primary one day and she said " I wish i was a bucket of wine"!
Welcome and Njoy !!:db

Maybe no names, but don't you at least give them Last Rights just before you dump the sediment when secondary finishes? :r

too funny, I just had that experience this week. The only difference is that my wifes only comment was "I ain't given up my pillow, you'll need to use yours if ya want your wine to have one"
