Santa was kind enough to bring me a Mini-jet and 3 sets of pads for Christmas. It remains unopened. However, given your druthers, would you rather have a mini-jet or allinonepump?

I would like to have something that could assist and ensure the de-gassing of my wine, assist with racking and filter to make the wine sparkle. If it could assist with bottling, so much the better.

Based on my needs, which one should I keep (or get)? I can return the mini-jet and filters if needed.

Id go pump anmyday of the year!!!!! The jets leak when filtering and there is nothing you can do about it, that is right from the mouth of the manufacturer but thgey dont state that anywhere! It doesnt have enough power to degas and I believe to use it for racking your wine you have to remove a hose and move it which Ive heard isnt easy! Also, with the whole house filter inline you have many more options for filtering includiung sterile filtering and even though the mini or suoper jet states they sell sterile filters they arent!! You need a Absolute filkter to do that and yoiull know when you are looking at one as the price jumps up to around $100 for 1!

I agree with Wade and I love my pump, I also like not spending more on the filters! That is a big reason I like the filter housing better than the Jet. Now I have not used a Jet so I can not say from personal experience how the Jet operates but I have seen the reviews all over the place and they were not good. I would rather spend a little more getting something that works very well then something that works so-so like I have read about the Jet. JMHO

i have the mini jet filter, every time i have to use it,i dread it!! i wish i had known about the vac pump!trying to wait a decent amount of time until i can buy one lol.mine was a xmas gift from hubby 2 years ago.long enough wait??

I agree with a vacuum pump choice. It's been a year now since I got one from Wade and I've recently tried some year old wine degassed with it and I can say that for the first time I have wine that shows no sign of CO2. It has made a HUGE difference for me.

I have a mini jet filter - it does work great - so far. I also have a vacuum pump and some day i will do the vacuum pump filter. But I will wait until the mini-jet goes out.

I use the mini jet. It works "ok". One day I will switch to the All In One Pump.

What is the flow rate of the allinone? A minijet will not do the job if you need to process 500liters of wine. Will the allinone pump do the job?

Allinone, with out a doubt!!!! I have never filtered my wine but I'm thinking the filter housing Steve has come up with makes it easy and less expensive.

For what it's worth I have the Superjet and use it as a transfer pump. It effectively degases and moves wine in a hurry. I wouldn't trade it for anything! Big price tag but I like having the option to be able to filter if I choose to.

John, Im not sure about ther all in one but most of the medical grade vacuum pumps are 30 liters per minute if that helps.

Joea, I think I agree with you on the pump if you are using vessals larger than carboys like barrels or VCT tanks. You will want to move the wine quickly and you won't have to worry about how to create a vacuum. For just carboys, I'm with Wade on the vacuum pumps.

Wade could you be talking about air displacement instead of liquid ? that would result in 8 gallons in a minute (.2642 x liters = gallons )
the allinone will transfer a 3 gallon carboy in just under 2 minutes, (under increasing vacuum ) I have an industrial HVAC vacuum pump and the test results are the same - or very close - using 3/8 ID hose

thanks steve
