Just want to make sure I'm not hurting myself. I just inhaled a huge whiff of my potassium metabisulfite mixture and the fumes were extremely powerful. So much so it sent me into a coughing fit and gave me a head-ache. Is this stuff harmful to me or my family. Please let me know if I need to take future action to get help. Thanks guys and gals!

It happens to me all the time. No I do not believe it is good for you. I usually walk away to get some fresh air. Use caution and common sense.

Not great to take big whiffs like that especially if you are asthmatic. Other then that I dont believe you have a problem, just always try not to open it in a closed room.

I'm guessing I'm fine since I woke up this morning. I didn't realize that the container I was keeping my mixture in was holding in fumes. Took the top off the jar, poured it into my bottle washer and BAM! Thanks for all the responses. The good news is I'm bottling my first Cabernet Sauvignon Batch today. I thieved a little to sample and was actually impressed! This is gonna be a great hobby! Thanks again!
