Is there any good reason to keep the little label the box that my wine kit came in? What do the numbers after>> Merlot>> mean to me? Or is this like the tag on my pillow? Will the wine police haul me away to wine jail? Or is this tag for people who are more retentive than me in their record keeping. This stuff is going to be ready to bottle in a few weeks, I need to get to the package store and start creating empties to use. Bye

I think that if you were to have a problem with the kit those numbers are used in identifying it and such, like a serial number... Edited by: Steve

The numbers are the date code and provide info when kit was produced:

Winexpert warrants it's kits for one year from the date of manufacture. You can read the date by looking for the peel-off sticker on the top of the box.

It will read something like this: 04 320 03 123

04 = 4th kit run of the production day

320 = 320th day of the calendar year, in this case that's um, October 15th-ish.

03 = 2003

123 = number of kit position in the run, i.e., 123rd out of about 600.

I think you are suppossed to peel the sticker off and stick it onto the instructions.
