I have been lurking the weeds for awhile, looking up and reading. Well today I had a issue and asked on the beginners Forum and got my answer right away (yeast dilemna). Figured I had better intro myself.
I'm a retired Sheriff Lt. and last year my nieghbor and I made 101 bottles of "Dago Red", turned out PERFECT :), so now I'm hooked. Bought my own starter kit and jumped into the wine making with both feet. Currently I have "Cooking", 5 gal of Wild Blueberry, 6 gal Wild Blueberry w/ raisins, 6 gal of Chokecherry, 6 gal of Chokecherry (friends recipe), and today I have 6 gal of Blackberry started AND Saturday we are again making "Dago Red" and this year we are doing 14 lugs for Napa Valley grapes (our comm. gets together and orders an entire semi load of grapes from Napa Valley and they are scheduled to be delivered this Sat.). Oh, I don't even drink that much, so I love doing it and then giving it away!!

Welcome aboard BigBend. When you stated you made 101 bottles with a neighbor last year I was thinking "just wait". Then reading on I see you got the bug. Start building your racks and build twice as many as you think you'll ever need. This hobby is an obsession as I think you have found out. Feel free to ask questions anytime.

Hi BigBend

Welcome to winemakingtalk. How about posting up your chokecherry recipe.

Welcome Bigbend. Just remember, you're not drinking wine, you're drinking fermented fruit juice. [We all know how good fruit juice is for us.]

You need 5 servings of fruits and vegatables each day, so drink up.

welcome big bend! i bet that blueberry with raisins would make an awesome port! let us know about your napa valley grapes and how everything goes with that! i just did my first batch from chardonel grapes and i am learning my 3 p's...patience, patience, and more patience, lol.
