Tonight I'm enjoying a commercial bottle of Linganore Spicy Regatta. It has a big fruit flavor and is best served heated.
So we're heating it up and serving with apple pie and vanilla ice cream.

I'd like to make a wine that could be spiced and heated up and taste good. Perhaps a kit. I'm not sure yet.

What wines do you guys and gals like to mull?

Hey X after hearing about the pie and ice cream. Some mulled wine would be on my list too.

That's a brand new limited edition kit. I just use a cranberry wine and add whatever spices and such I'm in the mood for at the time. Kinda like for sangria I like using blueberry or blackberry wine as the base.

I use shiraz or zinfandel for mulled wine. I add allspice berries, cloves, a cinnamon stick, and dried orange peel. You could use fresh orange peel too. Allspice berries make up the larges part of it at about 1 1/2 tbls of them. The rest are just small amounts. Cloves pack a VERY powerful punch, so I only use 1-3 of them depending on their age.

Never boil it, just heat it to hot, and for an extra special treat, once in your cup, hit it with an ounce of nice brandy.

Buy yeah, that new kit from RJS should be available now.

Thanks for that extra bit of info Dean.
Gotta go shopping for some spices this week anyway so I'll pick up some extra.
I think everyone will like a warm glass of mulled wine with their turkey.
I see myself taking a nap in front of the wood stove this year after dinner. :)

Dan,
How old ARE you? "I see myself taking a nap in fornt of the wood stove this year after dinner." - that's for old fogeys! You've got wine-making activities to get busy with after dinner on Thursday! Only when you have a white beard like Waldo do you get to take Thanksgiving day off!

27 :)
All that I'll really have to do is take a SG reading or two on Thanksgiving.
Not too much to do.
Unless someone sends me a surprise kit to start before I get paid again haha!

Plus my beard is coming in pretty thick for the winter. Only a couple of grays no white yet.
