I own a ranch in central Texas and we have lots of muskadine grapes but no knowledge of how to make wine. My kids want to make picking and stooping as annual family party. I thought I would start slow.....pick a few grapes today....some tomorrow and so on. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how long the grapes could be stored at room temperature until they are stomped?

Welcome wineboy!

I don't know how longs muscadines will keep, but my eating grapes keep almost a week under refrigeration. However most folks recommend freezing then thawing fruit that will be used for wine in order to get as much juice as possible from it. So I'm certain you could freeze them as you pick them then unthaw the day before the stomping party.

Hope this helps

Welcome to winemakingtalk.

Like Pam stated, you are better off freezing them and do you have any ideas on how to make wine? We have a tutorial section I would suggest you read thru that before you begin.

Good luck.

Welcome to the forum.!

My short wine making experience is limited to kits and frozen fruit wines., sorry I can't help with your grape question(s).

Welcome !!

I do recall some people who make wine from muskadine grapes - I would have to make some calls and look on previous post to find them.
Like mentioned - it is best to freeze them for now until you are ready.
