Nothing fancy, plain old masking tape and a magic marker. I am envious of those who have nice labels but it is just not for us. Masking tape just works well with our time limit constraints.
Because we do not filter and do not plan to filter there maybe a light dusting on the bottom of the bottles. No big deal to us or our giftees.

I will tell you we are darn proud of the clarity!

White Cranberry and Watermelon Merlot

The backdrop is the air conditioner in the cellar that we put in the door because there was no other place big enough for it.

You can see where a hole was cut out and then filled back in for the first air conditioner in the top photo.

From a value engineering viewpoint, it meets the basic requirement of identifying the contents and has to be very cost effective. I use my printer on a small mailing label and put enough info to ID the wine. We would have to run the numbers on the two methods. Yours save material cost but mine saves labor. :)

Rocky that is probably do-able. Would save a lot of time writing! I will have to check it out. What size labels?
Another reason for masking tape, very easy to remove! LOL

Hey Sammy, I use the Avery Ink Jet 8160 1" x 2 5/8" labels. A package of 25 sheets (750 labels) is about $9.00 at Staples. They clean off very easily.

When I saw this post all I could think about is you cellar and ac unit being part of your label - LOL

I was close - I do something very similar - I use a paint pen for the most part

LOL Steve! There is only one light in the cellar and that is next to the door and I thought what the heck, use the air conditioner as a background.

We do not air condition our home for a couple of reasons but yet we have an air conditioner in the cellar! To outsiders, it seems we have our priorities mixed up.

I like your Avery label idea! But, being frugal as I am I'll print to plain paper, cut out with an x-acto or scissors and then adhere using glue stick. Bottles leaving the house get a nicer label.
