Did I make a mistake. I was out of town and picked up a kit of VR French Sauvignon Blanc that was reduced to $53 dollars because of the date. I did not know how to read thecode until now. The code was 0232706 0349. Did I throw away good money on anway too out dated kit?

I dont have much experince, but if you have it, you might ad well try it out.Check the date on the yeast before you pitch it.

from the code it was done on the 327th day of 2006. So it would be 3 yrs old.
Replace the yeast for sure and if the juice appears/tastes/smells fine you should be good to go. It all depends on the storage and handling of that kit over the life of it.
Good Luck.

That kit was made on day 327 of 06. White wine kits can vary in color from very clear to straw to golden. If its not brown Id say go for it but do replace the yeast cause thats pretty old.

I would try contacting the manufacturer of the kit. Explain to them what happened. Where and when you purchased it and explain that you did not know at the time how to read the date codes. Maybe they will replace it for you

Update: I emailed Winexpert and they told me they couldn't help me, but return it to the shop I got it at and they should return it. I did that today as I was traveling and this shop is about an hours drive away. They willingly took it back and I picked up a Piesporter. Winexpert wouldn't help because it was three years old.
