Well, actually what happened is that I spilled all the sanitizer all over my dirty floor.

So, I need to rack a one gallon batch and a 6 gallon batch into new carboys.

I have campden tablets and household bleach.
I'll be racking into a glass 1 gallon and a better bottle 6 gallon.

What would you do?

Ok, I'm guessing at the 1 tablet per gallon ratio?
Will it clean on contact or do I need to let water/campden sit in the carboys for awhile?

Or were you saying to add the campden tablets to the wine after I rack?

I'm not sure of the exact measurements (I think I remember reading 4 tabs per quart of water to make a sanitizing solution) but you asked if it cleaned on contact. The solution you're making is a sanitizing solution, not a cleaning solution so you have to make sure you clean first. Once cleaned, let the sanitizing solution have contact for 2 minutes (is what I also remember reading somewhere). I am a star-san user so I am not an expert at all on the k-meta for sanitizing.

If carboy is well cleaned using something like dish soap that kills germs(Dawn) just add campden to wine as you normally would. It will be fine.

Its more then that Jeri, its been a while sense I used campden tabs but seems like it was more like 8-10 tabs per gallon. I only use a gallon of sanitize solution when I sanitize anything. Swirl swish, spray
