Paint for a Portuguese floor corker

So, I pulled my corker apart to clean in and found a bit of rust inside. After cleaning it up, I spray painted it with some Krylon. So, before I use it again, I wonder:

Did I just do something stupid?

As I recall you haven't been making wine for particularly long time ( like three or four years), I wonder why you had rust already? Do you soak corks? Spray your corker with sanitation liquids?

I doubt you caused any harm by painting it. As I recall Krylon is food safe.

No, I haven't been at it long at all. The corker is used. Got it off of craigslist. So, this has been cooking there for a while, probably.

I don't need to use it for another month or so. It should be good and cured by then.

Did another coat and will put it back together in a few days.

The corker is back together, working normally and looking pretty good.
