Does that article contain accurate information? In the beginning they state that some wine makers switch from cork to plastic closure to save trees. I thought cork trees supplied the cork bark but it didn't kill the tree; that it was a renewable and natural resource.
My guess is that the paper crap reduces overall expense to the winery and that is the real reason they're exploring it. Now if they come out and say "we're switching to paper cuz it's cheaper" that doesn't sound as good as "we're doing this to save the world".
