I have seen ads like this before. Sears used to sell something similar. Did the year show up anywhere? Had to be early 1900's. Amazing that $938 could buy all this. Of course, a considerable amount would be spent on the foundation and brickwork on the front porch, probably about half of the rest of the cost. Not crazy about the floor plan, with the bathroom on the first floor, but, hey, for that amount!

I bought a small 3 BR ranch in 1982. Unbeknownst to me, it was a Sears package deal that was built around 1958. A neighbor told me the history, but otherwise I'd never have known. There was nothing that I saw to indicate it was a kit. (Yes, it had a bathroom!)I grew up in a Sears home in the country. When my parents bought it in 1958, it still had no bathroom, so they turned a downstairs bedroom into a bathroom. Special wedding gift! Dad still lives there enjoying all the benefits of modern living.
