My significantly older brother drove to Florida, and purchased what was (in today's dollars) $1,000 worth of fireworks in South Carolina. The 4th of July was a BLAST in all sense of the term. The next day my younger brother and I collected all the unexploded firecrackers, cut them open, and scraped out the powdered magnesium. This went into a hollowed out smoke bomb with a fuse.
Thinking about this many decades later ... holy freaking cow!
It's not a surprise that hundreds of so-called adults lose various appendages to fireworks each July ...
