Ok here we go, hang on, wirh a kit we add 3 tsp of sorbate to 6 gallon of wine, but why do the kits give us 1 tsp for 6 gallon

I'm guessing the rest is in the F-Pack.. Maybe to keep it from fermenting itself

rob: Perhaps you can clarify your question. When I make a kit, I add the amount included with the kit (if I use the sorbate). If it's 1 tsp, then that's how much I add. Where did you get the idea that you should be adding 3 tsp for the kit?

Deezil: Not every kit has an F-pack. Although if it does have an F-pack, there is usually sorbate in it.

Cpfan, thanks for the response. My point I was trying to make was why do the kits come with so little sorbate. If you buy sorbate the direction on the back call for 2 1/2 teaspoon per gallon

I was thinking along the lines of "why need sorbate at all if you're not backsweetening" so i automatically assumed we were only talking about the ones with f-packs :)

Mine says 1/2 tsp per gallon ...

Maybe the purity varies and kits use a really pure version
