Forgive the noob question. I've searched around for this question but I didn't find it so hopefully it is an answerable question....

Here is my scenario .... Bought kit, primary fermentation to nearly 1.000 on hydrometer (2weeks). Transferred to glass carboy with auto siphon, degassed as instructed after adding multiplempackets of sulfite, chetosin, and something else. 10 days later all was going well until.... It said I could rack again in 10 days. I have 1 carboy so I went back into bucket until I could clean the carboy then auto siphon back to carboy. Total time of exposure 20minutes-ish.

So as I'm carefully trying to minimize oxygen and after recovering from kicking myself for not having a second carboy I began to wonder.... Did I just ruin this. So my question is - Did I just mess this up?

Thanks for any input. I appreciate the insight and advice.

I certainly am not as experienced as most on this forum but I think plenty of novice winemakers (as I am) do this. If you notice, most kits only have one carboy. that amount of exposure should not hurt the wine.

You are fine, that small amount of oxygen won't ruin your wine.

I agree with Julie's comment. It's wise to minimize oxygen after fermentation, but a little can't be avoided and 20 minutes exposure is insignificant. You should recognize going forward, however, that a second racking adds many times more oxygen than exposure for 20 minutes. In any event, you're fine.

This is why it's a good idea to keep some metabisulfite on hand so you can add a little after racking to remove any oxygen from the wine.
