I'm new to kit winemaking. I'm sure I added the yeast correctly. Measured the Malbec wine kit at an O.G. of 1.080 (on March 16/15). Racked on March 26/15 at S.G. of 1.016.

The wine exhibited bubbling/ foaming stage of fermenting as I believe it does and after reaching 1.016 S.G. with nearly no bubbles I racked to carboy.

Here's my question. I have found a package of SuperB active dry wine yeast in the kit it came with. I'm sure I put the yeast pack in, on the top of the must, let it sit, and then stirred it in. The pack was white. Now, that I am about to de-gas, I locate this other package of yeast which makes me seriously question myself, as to whether or not, I really added the yeast package. I'm sure I did.

The kit was a dual batch purchased online from Costco with a Malbec kit and Merlot and winemaking startup supplies. Any ideas?

Yes, I thought maybe. Yet, no where in the directions or kit inventory does it mention it.
Directions only mention Bentonite package, of course and after adding must, add the packet of Wine Yeast.
Weird.
Maybe an extra pack. But, there's one for each kit of Malbec and Merlot.
Would my readings have changed and fermenting action occur if I had not added any yeast?

I haven't purchased one of these dual batches. There should be one package of yeast for each batch. Seemd like a dumb question, but is this yeast for the second batch?

At this point, it doesn't matter. The sugar has fermented. Taste it. If it tastes fine, then keep going.

Did you already make the Merlot?
How many packs of the SuperB active dry wine yeast do you have?
Any other packs of yeast in the kit that you haven't used?

Re. Yeast question

Thanks. I already have the Merlot to clearing stage, about 3 days now, then filtering.

The Malbec is still giving off a bubble every 10 to 15 seconds into the airlock.

I've just left it alone. I'll wait it out I guess. I'll check the S.A. in a day or two. Then go ahead I guess.

I believed each kit came with two yeast packages. I used the plain package marked simply yeast. To answer your question: there are two SuperB Yeast packs remaining.

I figured it was a goof up when packaging because the kit was missing a beaker.
