I have a MM Renaissance Nero D' Avola that I am going to start sometime in the near future. This kit didn't come with any raisins but I am thinking they might help give the kit some extra mouthfeel.

I am looking for an online source for red raisins like the kind that came in my MM Renaissance Valpolicella:

Anybody have a good source? Can you buy these local like at a Whole Foods (Whole Paycheck) ?

How about the grape skins from George, personally i think they would do a better job.

I thought of that as well but worried they might alter the flavor profile of the wine?

If I did go that route I suppose the Merlot grape pack would be the better option?

You could also just use 1/2 or something as the raisins. Just be careful as lots of raisins have sulfites in them.

Look closely at the pic above of the MM Raisin pack, it says they contain sulfites?

At what level would they affect anything? Should you rinse them in water first?

Since this is a kit they would be fine but when making a scratch wine when you are already adding some sulfites this can sometimes be just a little too much in addition to what you are adding already to stun the wild yeast and for the sulfites some extra time might be needed for the sulfites to disperse.
