So sad, hopefully the smile we have always seen on the screen but seem to elude him in real life is with him now. RIP, Robin.

One of the best comedians ever. Depression is a serious illness that knows no bounds. If you have never seen Robin Williams: Live on Broadway from way back in 2002, it is available from Netflix. He was pure comic genius. We laughed till we had tears in our eyes and our stomachs hurt. RIP

I bought that DVD after seeing that special on HBO back then. It is absolutely hysterical. I may have to break it out this week.

What a horrible tragedy. He was an amazing artist and will be missed by so many! He was one of the few actors that can consistently make me laugh until I cry. We enjoyed every moment of his career.

We look at someone like him and think he had available everything you could possibly want out of life and wonder what he could have been depressed over. You just never know. A terrible loss of a great comedian.

Drugs and alcohol. Look at how many we've lost... Philip Seymour Hoffman, Heath Ledger, John Belushi... the list goes on and on.

I sat next to a comedian (Mitch Hedberg) on a plane once, and we talked up a storm because he was about my age (5 years younger) and he grew up in St Paul, MN. A couple weeks later I saw on the news he had died "of a heart attack". Later that was changed to "multiple drug toxicity".

Robin was a true genius. It's sad that so many of the greats can barely cope with their existence, and their success.

I feel he was a comic genius. I have read where a lot of his dialogue in his movies was totally ad lib. I truly enjoyed seeing him work and I will miss his comedy. A real tragedy and something I would have never expected. R.I.P. Robin.

So sad,

What is the lesson here??

You can have all the fame, all the success, all the money, and still find life unbearable.

I always liked Robin, but found that his depression shone through in many of his movies. Take for example good morning Vietnam and the dead poet's society. Both were supposed to be comedies but ending up being depressing as heck. His standup, on the other hand, was genius.

Probably our all time favorite Robin Williams movie. The kids still say lines from this movie to this day. "Come on Gloria" "You don't give me no time to chop" - Agador Spartacus
