So when we went for our annual trip to Seattle this Summer to visit family (and a few wineries) We had a get together with some good friends and they brought us a bottle of 2007 Rock Meadow Cellars Merlot. The story is 5 couples who love wine decided to take their passion to the next level and make wine from fresh grapes instead of (you guessed it) kit wines!
They started out very small with only 50 cases and now are up to over 500 cases. I opened the bottle of Merlot last month when we had company over for dinner. I was so amazed by what I was pouring that I absolutely had to have more! I even put it up next to a 91 point 2007 Columbia Crest (H3) Merlot and the Rock Meadow was hands down the winner.
I was able to secure 6 bottles (and I had to work to get those) as they had sold out of many things within the first week of release. This is truly a boutique winery that is quickly achieving a cult status. Since it's all volunteer I think it took 3 weeks from initial contact to order shipment!
I will definitely get my order in earlier next year and plan on getting a case.
Check them out! Rock Meadow Cellars
