Whinemaker, you could use Brewing belts to keep the fermentations going down there.

Thanks for all the compliments. As I said the room is only 6x8 and maintains about 60 degrees right now. I delibertly left the outside block wall unfinished and just painted it.


Wade, I just bought a brew belt last week because actually the rest of the basement where I make my wine stays around 60 degrees if I don't open a heat vent and I thought it would help kick the yeast in action. What were you refering to about using it?
 
I noticed that the temps were 55* and thats pretty darn cold to ferment reds and could get into trouble with some wines at that temp.
 
I am soooo envyous of all of you that can have a cellar/basement. Where I live we call them "pools" because if you dig 2 feet down, you hit water.

runningwolf, use the belt to keep your wine warmand the cellar/basement can stay at those colder temps.
