i just racked my barolo this past weekend. i noticed that it has become less purple and more red, is his normal? it smelled fantastic, like cherries. should i let it age longer in a carboy or go a head and bottle?

i think developing patience is the hardest part of the hobby.

I think the color is normal, Barolo is noted for a 'red brick' color.

Note that the original series Barolo is documented as "Barolo Style", I don't think it's actually Nebollino (sp?) grapes. If you like this one, I would definitely recommend the Estate Series Italian Barolo, which is a true varietal and fuller bodied.

Others will dis-agree, but I make the original series Barolo specifically to drink early- like 3-4 months. Sure it would be better at 9-12 months, but it's pretty tasty at 3 months IMO.
