siphon rod

Cleaning the siphon rod of what looks like sediment has become a challenge. I've used the siphon once before and it came clean but now holding it up to light I have a "film" of wine .Took a cotton Q Tip thinking it would reach the curved area however it only reached a short space. Washed it in soapy water then started rinsing it in my Easy Clean no rinse cleanse solution. No luck. Is there a brush that y'all use or do I but a new one?

I used a paper towel and it worked very well. But I think a 4' pipe cleaner would work better.

Thanks for the replies. I bought some craft "fuzzy sticks" at Wally World...and They did the job. When I go to my supplier I will look into the items mentioned above.
