I bottled 8 gallons of Berry Blast melomel today and was selecting a spumante from last year off of the wire display rack that I bought a few months ago, as I took the bottle out of the rack the entire filled tack gave way and everything came crashing down.......
DAMMIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I lost approx a dozen bottles of wine, man am I pissed! I looked over the rack and noticed that the welds came apart in a few places making it buckle under the weight.
What a mess, broken glass and wine everywhere. Thank god my wife was here to help me clean up.
I am fighting the urge to go visit the guy who sold it to me and knock a few teeth down his throat....

I hear you Tom. That would be enough to make any person mad as he double hockey sticks. Drown your sorros with a bottle or two that didn't break.

Oh Tom, that is horrible! This is the reSonw by I make Mike build me wine racks! Het rudely believes I going over board, S far as he is concerned it needs to last. Thousand years!

I agree with Grapeman, go drink a bottle!

Tom sorry to hear this. Things could be a lot worse. Just think if it was a fork on the forklift that gave way as you were loading one of your pumpkins. Incidentally how about a pumpkin update. Pictures maybe?? Glad to hear you didn't get hurt. Thank God it wasn't your wife getting it. This is one of those moments if you had sent one of the kids or someone else down to get it you would have wondered what they did to cause it.

Thankfully you nor your wife were physically hurt. Still, I can appreciate your frustration.

One day the rack coming down is one of my fears. At least you didn't lose them all and that you still have some to help drown your sorrows with

Glad you didn't get hurt, which is the most important..

I feel for ya Tom !!!

I am glad that no one got hurt - Celebrate by drinking the ones that didn't break

Come to think about it - homeowners insurance ????

Thanks guys, you all are absolutely right, no one got hurt, that is the most important part, I can always make more wine.
Dan, when a pumpkin drops you get the same feeling in the pit of your stomach....like you want to vomit...lol

I'll have to measure the pumpkin today, it should be over 1000 lbs, a porch pumpkin in the grand scheme of things.

I won't be bringing it to any of the competitions, one of my best friends that has been growing for a few years had a real decent fruit growing this year, his little grandchildren, ages 3-7 yrs old, loved going into the patch to see it, the look of pride on my buddies face when they would see the fruit and "brag" about how grandpa grows them the best pumpkins was priceless.

The other day he called to tell me that his fruit had split....damn it!...he was going to try to carve his with them for Halloween, he was a little heart broken, I told him that he could have mine, I'll keep it growing until he is ready to take it.
I can always grow more pumpkins, his grandchildren will only be that age once.

That is soo great Tom !!
Being a father I can see small window of opportunity with my sons before they move on to bigger and better things, its literally priceless to catch and hold onto those moments in life.

Roy, no it wasn't a Seville, it was a wire rack that is used in Wine/Liquor stores to display and sell bottles.
I need to learn how to build racks!

Thanks Doug, My buddy and his grandchildren will remember doing that for a long time.It just felt like the right thing to do.

Tom,

I feel for you!

If you were to attack the person that sold the rack to you, just make sure that you have an "all winemaker" jury at your trial.

Keep your head up! Just think of all that extra space that you now have.

John, LMAO! I've calmed down a bit in the past few days, but I can tell you one thing for sure...I'll never buy another one of those racks again...LOL
Thanks for all of the kind words folks!
