Ugh.
I'm exhausted and it doesn't look like I've even touched anything.
Both trucks are pretty beat up. We both need new windshields.
I threw about 30-40 green tomatoes and peppers into the compost bin. I didn't even think about making wine with them. They were pretty beat up though and had been out most of the day today anyway.
Chickens seem to have made it through ok.
I did see a bluejay dragging it's wing when I got home from work, poor guy.
Yesterday, Manthing and I were sitting in the garden, just enjoying the smells from the mint and flowers. We were watching the storm roll in. Suddenly we felt a gust of wind that was about 20 degrees colder. We both immediately jumped up and started trying to cover everything up. Our neighbor noticed and ran outside to help us cover a couple of things. We had a little less than 5 minutes before it started raining with lots of lightening and he dragged me in the house. We were standing at the backdoor about 2 minutes later and we could literally hear the hailstones rolling in with the storm, like a wave. If you have ever heard a tornado it was a little less intense than that. Pretty scary.
After about a minute and a half, our husky said FTS and ran out of the detached garage up to the back door. Thank goodness we were standing back there to let him in. He's got some pretty big knots on him but I think he'll be ok.
I think it hailed for about 10 solid minutes. There was one picture on twitter where someone took a picture of a hailstone next to a dvd. They were the same size!
One of our neighbors got caught out in it driving.
A hailstone knocked out his driver's side window and hit him in the side. He's got a bruise 12 inches across his sidearm and back. He had no choice but to continue on and then another one knocked out his windshield.
It's a miracle he wasn't seriously injured.
All up and down the street there is nothing but smashed out car and house windows. Some people even have holes in their roofs. It's pretty bad.
Thank goodness we have no windows on the north side of our house.
