Hi,
I've got a Speidel 290L steel tank and am considering outfitting the the plugged port w/ a threaded thermometer but wanted to poll the masses regarding the following:
-Are there any drawbacks to doing so (ie does the seal hold up in comparison to the plug)?
-Is there an advantage to a longer Thermometer probe (ie 6 inches rather than 2 inches) in terms of function/accuracy? Most instances stating a preference for the shorter one seem to be with respect to beer brewing in smaller containers that make the longer probe problematic.
-Any preference between the 'BrewBuilt', 'Fermentap', and 'More Beer' versions (offered here: https://morewinemaking.com/category/winemaking-thermometer.html)? They seem to be similar, w/ BrewBuilt being the most expensive.
Thanks!
