I, for one, am happy that I have very broad tastes. It allows me a great range of experiences.
I was recently at a craft beer-drinking gathering with a bunch of guys, and some of us make beer. One of the non-brewer guys asked me, "You make beer, don't you?"
I replied, "Yes, but I primarily am a winemaker."
"Ohhh." He paused. "But you don't make those kinds of wines like
MUSCADINE, do you?" (wrinkling his nose)
"Why, yes I do! In fact, the only wines I make are made from 100% American grapes or fruits."
"Oh." (disdainfully)
I allowed a short pause, then offered,
"But I did medal in Los Angeles with my muscadine."
He brightened considerably, again showing great interest. "Oh, REALLY!"
Remembering Hardy Rodenstock! He proved a lot about the whole affair.
