WineXpert Vintners Reserve Merlot

Hi everyone,

I'm thinking about buying a new wine kit. It will be my 2nd wine kit. First kit I made was a VR Pinot Gris. Has anyone made this Merlot kit before? Comments? It's on sale for $50 at the store...Regularly $75. Thanks!

I have made this several times, but haven't made it for some time. I remember it to be a light bodied wine that made a decent table wine. It isn't a top shelf wine but it isn't horrible either. If you enjoy light bodied red wines, you'll enjoy that one. If you want full body in a merlot, you'll be disappointed.

Oh okay. That's kind of what I figured. I might go ahead and buy it, that so I can have a wine I can drink fairly early. Once I've got my 30 bottles of pinot gris, and 30 of Merlot, maybe I will get a better kit like a Selection Shiraz or something that so it will have lots of time to age before I will be running out of the cheaper stuff.
