I saw a recipe for wine or better term would be hooch. It's just juice and the yeast. They person said you can use 1 cup of sugar if you want.

Would this really work or would it just taste like crap ??

I have a broken package of yeast I need to use.....

Your doubts are likely justified. Think quality!!! :b
You get what you pay for. (Oops! I ended another sentence with a preposition! That's twice just today. "You get that for which you pay", just doesn't have a good ring to it.)

Well i just threw it together.... Had a jug of Welches from some time last fall. so with the juice and cup o sugar and the yeast packet that was broken i figure im out only the yeast. Ill age it a whole 2 weeks in the bottle before i taste......

Would this be a good way to get some slurry for skeeter pee ???? maybe i'm on to something... well find out.

If will give you a slurry but that yeast wont be that strong as it hasnt acclimated itself to too much making it easily strained but it djould work. Id still make a starter yeast with it myself

Seven days is REALLY SHORT. My guess is you'll end up with something with alcohol in it that tastes pretty bad. Even people who are desperate for alcohol in prison give their product NINE days before consuming.

If you're willing to take a step up in quality and wait nine days for it, you can follow the prison recipe for Pruno. How to make PRUNO

After you've choked that down, move on to more traditional methods that are sure to give you something tastier.

This is just a trail. If it sucks im dumping it. I just didnt know what to do with my open yeast. I saw this and thought id try making it. It had some reviews saying it was good !

Pruno just seems soo much worse than this.... Blech

I might have to give the pruno a try! :b

Sounds like it has some kick but the article doesn't mention the ABV. I am guessing it can't be that high and that in prison the alcohol tolerance is pretty low. Between the ten oranges and the vinegar In the ketchup it must taste like stomach acid! :tz

Well its the end of day 1. Its fermenting like mad. There is a brownish foam on the top of the juice with a fine bubble fermentaion mat under that. Smells like its working. Well find out soon enuf !

Day 2 and its still going pretty darn good. I have the lid covered by a section of paper towel. I've had to change that 3 times now due to sudden fluctuations in fermenting... Its smelling like wine. Just have to sit it out.... Well find out how its doing on day 3. As of now i don't see any signs of it slowing down.

Day 3 Its slowed down eunf to put on a ballon. ( yea no more air locks justa ballon with pin hole.) Ballon is standing straight up and the smell when i squish it is like wine with a touch of rubber. LOL

Its slowed down alot since yesterday. Should be interesting if its done fermenting by tomorrow. Its hard to believe it will clear by this weekend. But ya never know !

7 DAYS. Now thats old. When I lived in the arctic the locals used to make home made with raising and such. If it made it to 48 hours, it was considering well aged.

Day 4 here. Its held a steady pace of fermenting. Its not vigorous any more but its enuf to hold a balloon partially inflated. ( balloon has small holes to relive pressure)

Well its on day 6 now. Fermentation slowed way down. But its still chugging along and the juice looks more tan now.... Kinda yucky if ya ask me. If it dosnt clear up i might do some sparkaloid. But not till it stops fermenting. I hope it just clears on its own.

I racked it on the 13th. And put it away and forgot about it. I looked today thinking about it and its clear ( well its yellowishm but clear none the less) !!

I decided to taste it. It has a slight sulfur or mabey rubber ? smell. I did use a ballon for an air lock lol. I took a small sample and added a small amount of sugar. swirled and let sit for 5 mins. By then the sugar was dissolved. I sampled it and wow its really good.... Im sure with a couple months this would be great but as of now i think swmbo and i will drink this tonight.

I am shocked, SHOCKED that you would even consider making wine of any type without every modern chemical and contraption possible.

But :try for it!

I dunno if you saw this in another thread when I posted it, but...

I have many friends who make wine in the jug. To make things faster, quite few of them just slap it in the fridge to kill off the yeast and let it settle, then pour off the liquid into a glass and ... down the hatch!

Only thing I would say not to do in that video is using the baking yeast as it says.

Your wine will smell like feet, lol.
