We are going to start our next kit soon.(Island mist)We want to increase the alcohol content. When adding the sugar, should we add it all before primary fermentation,or half then and half at secondary. The concern is would fermentation stall out if it is all added in the begining?Still new to this but we're trying.....

I've done this a handful of times and added all the sugar (usually about 5 pounds) in the primary. Never had any problem with that. My starting SG is usually between 1.080 and 1.090 (11.5% to 13%) and the yeast seems to tolerate it fine. Edited by: Coaster

I do the same, add boiled and cooled sugar water with a bit of acidto primary before topping off primary to 6 gals.
