Which grape from these is the best? My wine store sells these kits, looks like some are Italian juice, some California.

Which varietals have you had the most success with?

The best grapes are ther free ones, so guess your asking for second best. I love Italian Wines absd California Cab Sauvs. If you like bold red, go Cab Sav, cant go wrong. Don't buy a cheap kit unless you want watery, a little sweet red wine, AKA Boone's Farm. In reality best is a personal taste thing. If you like sweet to semi sweet white, Riesling is a good pick.
