I'm getting close to placing my order for three buckets of the Mosti Mondiale's Sonoma Edition juice buckets. One of them for sure will be the Merlot. The second bucket will be a Cab but should I get

2)
a) California Cab
b) Washington Cab

after that I'm not sure at all about the 3rd bucket. If it was your choice what would you get?

WA state all the way. The manufacturers can buy much higher quality fruit from WA state for the same $$$ that they would pay for schlep fruit sourced from CA.

IMHO WA Cab as well as WA Cab Franc.

I can honestly say I never had it.

Its usually a blending grape in Bordeaux blends but when done right is amazing on its own. When done wrong it can be downright awful. I have had some amazing bottles and one I had to literally pour down the drain.

The one I pored out was a local one grown with grapes from down south and I suspect they chose poorly on the yeast strain and it ended up tasting like rotten bell pepper. I don't think you would have that problem with this kit if you decide to try it as the fruit is sourced from WA state which is much cooler growing region. Plus you would have that nice handy dandy warranty to back up the kit.

Before buying a kit you should try a bottle and see if you like it. Its a softer Cab than Cab Sauv.

Go to the Gabriel's Superstore on 1604 and Blanco. They should have several different choices in Cab Franc.

I have 4 bottles (commercial) in the cellar from WA state, and 4 more bottles from NM wineries who got it right. Let me know what you find!

I have one of these Cab Franc's in the cellar. If you strike out you could always snag one of these.

Tell us more! How do you score fruit from the mecca of WA state AVA's! Its darn near impossible these days unless you have family or great connections!

Mike , I Got 1300 lbs. of Syrah from Jacki at Songbird vineyards ,I found on Craigslist then she hooked me up with Mike and got 1200 lbs. Cab franc. Both of them are Great people, real down to earth. Jacki is the sister to the guy that ownes Taptiel winery on Red Mountain.
