Cru Select Italian Valpola Ripassa (Formerly Italian Valpolicella Ripassa)

or

Cellar Classic Winery Series Valpolicella w/ Primitivo skins

Let me know what you think about them if you've made them, The Valpola Ripassa is the one I am leaning towards... any input is greatly appreciated!

I made the Cellar Classic one. It was good at a year, even better at 2 but it just didn't knock my socks off. I'm definitely not a wine connoisseur but the taste they claim to be there just wasn't ,for me.Don't take this wrong though, it was a good wine. I am curious of the Valpola Ripassa though so if you chose that one keep us posted. I think if you like chocolate notes in your wine either seem to be a good choice. A few months back I bottled the Grand Cru International Meritage. It tasted good at bottling. excited to try in a few months (maybe Christmas)

I made the Valpo Ripassa and it is outstanding. I pitched yeast 2/22/13 and bottled 5/20/13. Added 40g American medium plus cubes for 2 months. It gives me hints of Amarone, kind of Amarone's kid brother. That is really good in my book. It is more of a daily drinking style, not the huge sipper style. I highly recommend it.
