Wine Tasting Activity at New Years Eve Party

We are having some good friends over tonight. We had them over in October and we did some barrel tasting. My wife is real good about capturing notes on these tastings, so I devised a little game around it.

The objective is to blindly align the wine to the varietal or blend as well as to your notes from the last time you tried it. See the scoring sheet, which is unique for each person.

I’m blind to it as well, hopefully I’ll do better than I did at the Christmas party.

I never updated the results. My wife and I did well (7/9), I got two of the wines mixed up. I can’t say the friends were equally into it. They each got 3 out of a potential 9 points (identifying wines and previous comments) and one of the points was identifying Chardonnay among 4 other red wines. Not sure this is a game that will see a repeat.

Perhaps your friends were just caught up in the holiday.
Perhaps you could try again in, say, summertime when things are not so nuts?

I really like your idea and (with your permission) would love to try and set this up with my family members..
