    Mosti Mondiale Renaissance pinot grigio

Sounds like a good plan. I'll splash it with the AIO pump. I love the smell of the reds fermenting. But the white with that nutrient pack - not so much.

    You guys make me jealous.

    Other Carboy & Bucket Dolly

Just got these in from garden supply today. Perfect size. Thought I would share because they can be so helpful. I believe they were about $17 each or two for $30. I was at Home Depot the other day, and it looked like I was going to spend about $12 on the supplies needed to make one, and being...

    Mosti Mondiale Renaissance pinot grigio

Just racked this to secondary a couple days ago at SG of about 1.035. (Instructions said 1.04-1.05) Added the yeast nutrient and wow, it really kicked those little yeasties into high gear. Sure stinks though. Thanks to this forum, I had no problem with the dreaded volcano. This is my first...

    Cellar Craft Sterling Tempranillo

Thanks for all the ideas. Definitely a learning experience. I may have exaggerated a little on "a few liters." It sure seemed like a lot, but a don't really recall. And at the time, (following directions) I didn't see necessity in noting it. It was my very first time to rack from a primary. I...

    Cellar Craft Sterling Tempranillo

Yes already added sorb ate and fining agents. I was afraid it may be too late to fatten it up a bit, but I figured I'd ask. Hopefully the grape pack will have helped and I'm concerned about nothing. Rocky, thanks for the input. I'll post how it comes out after it ages a bit.

    Cellar Craft Sterling Tempranillo

I have a CC Tempranillo sitting in the clearing stage. Back before I knew any different, I followed the directions and topped up with what seemed like a few liters of water after racking to secondary. I've read a lot of people say this wine is a bit thin anyway. I'm afraid mine may even be...

    Cellar Craft Red mountain

I below is a message from Tony that was very helpful. Wanted to share it with all. f you have racked off of gross lees and topped up to within three inches of the top of the bung hole, you can now leave it for the alloted secondary time (days they say to leave in secondary). Since it's...

    Cellar Craft Red mountain

Ibglowin, thanks again. After reading your post it makes sense to me that I wouldn't spend too much time trying to gather from The lees and risk leaving too much headspace on an entire carboy while waiting for it to settle. Especially with how cheap top of wine is.

    Cellar Craft Red mountain

One more question. If I save the must to settle for a few days to top off with, is it ok to leave a little head space after transferring from primary to secondary while waiting for the must to settle in a sealed wine bottle so that I can use it to top off the secondary? Maybe there is enough...

Thanks everybody for the input. I really appreciate it.

Cellar Craft Stirring oak cubes & AIO Pump

I actually have two questions I'd like to ask for some feedback on. 1. I have a CC red mountain cab in the clearing stage. This is the point where it said to add the oak cubes. All the oak cubes are bunched up in the very top neck of the carboy. Should I stir this at all? Also instructions say...

RJ Spagnols Winery Super Tuscan tasting note

I'm about to start an EP super Tuscan tomorrow. What would you guys recommend topping it off with when needed? Sangiovese? I don't have any of my own far enough along to use it.

    REVIEW: *allinonewinepump*

Just used my all-in-one pump for the second time to rack and degas. Love it. I'm looking forward to using it for bottling day!

    Cellar Craft Allinone pump

Finally got to use my all-in-one pump. I love it. Worked perfectly. I was racking a Celler Craft Sterling Tempranillo from the fine ladies and secondary fermentation. I had vigorously degassed a couple weeks ago with the drill and paddles And added sorbate and fining agents. I was anxious to...

    Cellar Craft Topping off

I'm running into the same issue. I have my leas stored in the refrigerator and wine bottles with Vacuum stoppers. How long can I leave them in there before using. When is it time to throw them out?

    Cellar Craft Red mountain

Thanks ibglowin. I'm hoping it settles enough to make one full bottle from the two. If not, I'll let it go.

    Cellar Craft Red mountain

Newbie here, working on my second kit. This last week I moved my Red Mountain Cabernet from primary to secondary carboy. I had to top up with an entire bottle of Cabernet plus some water to get to the neck of the carboy. However I did funnel the gross Lee's into two wine bottles, put vacuum tops...

Other Allinone pump...didnt get to use it yet

thanks for the ideas. It was a real bummer to not use this cool looking new pump, but I should have a cane in a day or two. I'm interested to see just how much more gas is still in there. I've only racked once so far. (from primary to secondary) Clearing agents are added. This is a CC Sterling...

Other Allinone pump...didnt get to use it yet

Just got my Allinone pump. Looks great! I only have one racking cane, but figured I'd be ok to splash rack and degas my CC Tempranillo. Only problem is that my one racking cane is part of an easy siphon. Darn. No time to get another racking cane until next week, so... Based on what I have read...
