Those are fine. Bad corks would have air holes and or be old and overly dry. I have never had a bad almagnum cork but I understand several years ago they had issues. Yours should be fine. I have only had natural corks that were bad. I use bi disk corks they have amalgum in the middle and...

UJ, just a point of clarification . . . excellent is better than very good, awesome would be better than excellent and phenomenal would be better than awesome? I think we need a sticky on superlatives.

I use bulldog clips to clamp the muslin bag to the top of the primary bucket or large pot. Then dump the grape pack in and tie off the top. I put any primary oak in the bag also. Easy racking.

I'm loving the Eclipse Cabernet.
