    What's for Dinner?

Thanks, Mike. I have not checked Kroger. I will have to do that. To get more out of the bunch, I run my vegetable peeler over the stalk and take off the outer layer. Makes the whole piece edible and delicious.

    Simple syrup vs sugar

I suppose that both straight sugar and simple syrup have their advocates. I like simple syrup for the convenience and the fact that the sugar is dissolved. I agree both will work as needed.

    What's for Dinner?

Belated Happy Birthday, Mike. The meal looks great and as one who makes a lot of lamb, you did great. I love broccolini but it is getting ridiculously expensive here. I pay $4.29 for a bunch about as large as you have on your plate. If you would care to share, how much is it in your area?

Post a Meme, any Meme! (no politics)

The car comes to a stop on a deserted country back road... She: "I suppose you are going to give me the 'out of gas' routine." He: "No. I was going to give you the 'hereafter' routine." She: "What is the 'hereafter' routine?" He: "If you aren't here after what I'm here after, you're going to...

In promulgating your esoteric cogitations or articulating your superficial sentimentalities, and amicable philosophical or psychological observations, beware of platitudinous ponderosity. Let your conversational communications possess a clarified conciseness, a compacted comprehendedness...

    Greetings from Eritrea!!!!!

That will teach me to make a hasty assumption! I had assumed that your name was A. S. Marino, and did not recognize the suffix -ino, which in Italian names, along with -ese, is roughly the equivalent of -ite in English.

Want to up my low ABV Mango

Ray, what yeast are you using? Do you use the yeast dry or do you use a starter of yeast, sugar and water? What is the ambient temperature where you are fermenting. As Bob notes, a straight forward solution would be to fortify it with additional alcohol in the form of brandy, vodka or grain...

Ah, yes, I remember how great it was to find a discarded baby carriage or anything with four wheels. We would strip off the wheels and axles and have a cart done in a few days. The challenge was always the steering mechanism and kludging together something that was reliable and durable. In the...

I was figuring the value of the silver in the coin at today's prices, which would be a little over $2. When I was actively golfing, I used a penny. Worked great.

Wow, that is one expensive ball marker.

    Greetings from Eritrea!!!!!

Welcome to WMT! I had to do some research because I did not know that Eritrea still existed. I thought it was lost by Italy after WWII and was a part of Ethiopia. Learned something new today. Not too old to learn (but I may be getting close). I would imagine that you have an interesting story...

    Barrel fill level

I agree with Bryan's (Winemaker81) comments above. We did not go to the barrel early and only when fermentation was virtually complete. There would be a small amount of waste bubbling up through the bung hole, which we would clear a couple times a day and would refill the barrel to the bung...

Finer Wine Kit Finer Wine Kits

Looks very nice. Great job on the labels. The 375 ml bottles are handy for monitoring the progress of the vintage. You can get an idea of how it is aging by opening a 375 at 6 months and one at a year.

WineXpert Tweaking the reformulated Island Mist Green Apple

I have not made that kit but I have added Green Apple Extract to a Riesling kit with good results. If anyone tries this, be sure to test you addition amount. A few drops can make a difference.

New to Forums, Greetings from MT, Lots of Questions

@chapulincolorado, to get more flavor or a special flavor, I have used fruit extracts successfully. For example, in Riesling, I like a "green apple" background taste so I have added green apple extract on occasion. Extracts are normally natural flavors in an alcohol base and are available in...

    Another Nomacorc question

It is roughly for 200 gallons of wine so that is about how long they will last you. Can you buy them with a friend and split the bag? I break the bag down into Zip Lok bags of 100 and a 1000 count bag like that lasts me about a year and a half. The Nomacorcs do not dry out as much as other types do.

    Another Nomacorc question

Here is where I buy my Nomacorc's. Their price is the best I have fond for 1000's bags and they are #9 x 1 3/4" long. https://carolinawinesupply.com/products/nomacorc-select-900-bag-of-1000?_pos=1&_psq=no&_ss=e&_v=1.0
