    Risking carboy failure?

I have had discussions with several professional winemakers who do use bleach for some cleaning purposes. However, it is always followed by five or six rinses with clean, bleach free water. It can be used, but requires extreme care, probably more than most home winemakers should consider doing.

    What's in your glass tonight?

Oddly enough, I happened to be sampling that same wine. My impression of it was very similar. I have had better from Costco at about that same price. I am a sucker for any priced under $10. I always buy one or two of the reds. The Malbec his above it's weight class. Others have been good...

A didgeridoo doesn't have need of someone lighting something on it.

I think I had a few of those basson lessons during my time in college. (I believe the statue of limitations allows me to admit to that)

If you are unsure about your way in life, don't drive in downtown St. Louis, Missouri.

Wanting to confirm my thoughts on this result

Yes, kmeta (K for potassium) should be added about every three months during aging. If you don't agree for three months, then it should be added prior to bottling. I do reaching a bit differently than some others. I don't worry about picking up a little bit of sediment, since I know I will be...

Further Evidence Wine Sales Are Plummeting........

I-40, heck that's only 5 hours from me. I'm in for doing the road trip as well. And y'all are more than welcome to stop by the basement. I think we could certainly find something to consume down there.

Can you stop in Missouri? I'll take 300 lbs of cab sauv, 300 lbs zinfandel, and probably 250 lbs of Merlot.

    Is it just me??

I have eight tattoos. All mean something to me. I have two cats, a Celtic ying yang, Celtic cross and tri-ring, a wizard, a St. Louis Blues one and the one I am most proud of a Me Masonic Square and Compass. Tattoos are very personal to each individual and represent what the person intend for...

My wife and I did a seafood boil for Thanksgiving. Since we are on the Gulf Coast. Here's a picture of the boil going on and the final result. Hard to see the shrimp, but they are there under everything else. This was very tasty and might be the meal at Christmas with my kids.

Today, my wife and I went deep sea fishing. A large boat and there were about 20 of us. Thankfully only one person has stomach issues. We caught 2 keeper red snapper and 2 keeper vermilion snapper, along with about 5 or 6 smaller vermilion snapper. It was a lot of fun, great temps, around 73 or...

This is my wife and mine view for the next week. Perdido Key Florida. It's a little bit chilly here now, down to 65F. Tonight we celebrated our 14th wedding anniversary by watching the sunset and drinking wine on the beach.

    Elderberry wine

Oddly enough vegetable oil is what I found to be the best to remove it. Followed by copious cleaning with oxyclean free type chemicals.

    Brisket price in the US?

Wow, that's quite a difference from what I find Costco Prime Brisket in Missouri, I decided not to buy another one, when the price was $4.19/pound. But I did pick up pork butts at $8 off, made the cost per pound down to $2.12 for me.
