    Vinbrite filter experiences?

I use the Vinbrite filter on every batch. I have only had one torn pad. I find that the receiving carboy rapidly fills with CO2 (even a well degassed wine has a little residual), which is heavier than air and provides a protective blanket. I have not seen any sign of oxidation using the filter...

    Verjuice

I would treat it with K-meta and K- sorbate at the rate of 1 gram each per gallon.

RJ Spagnols Grand Cru Pinot Grigio - adding Peach Nectar?

Just make sure the peach nectar doesn't have any preservatives like K-sorbate in it.

    Can you re-cork ?

The threaded stop can move as you cork. Get the corker adjusted to the right spot then put a dab of silicone on the top of the stop where it meets the threads. That will hold it in place.

How long do you keep your bottles upright?

I lay mine on the rack as soon as they are corked, capsuled, and labeled. Never had a leaker.

How do you read these Accuvin SO2 tests??

Best light for the Accuvin tests is a 60 watt incandescent light bulb. When George first started carrying these kits I tested them in full sun, cloudy sun, flourescent light, incandescent light, and photoflood light. Incandescent bulbs gave the best color match.

    Gas Getter

Not familiar with this. I use a vacuum pump (medical aspirator) for both degassing and vacuum racking. 6 gallon carboys full of wine are just too heavy for me anymore.

Cellar Craft CC Showcase Yakima Valley Syrah

Since I do most of my wine work on the weekends I go 14 days in the primary. When I transfer to glass I add the sulfite, and at that point I consider myself in bulk aging. I rack off the lees after a month. I often don't use the clarifiers, because I usually leave the wine in bulk aging for 9...

    Wade

Well, tell him it cost a friend of a friend of yours his life in two months. Fred perforated and when they opened him up they drained over a gallon of stomach acid out of his gut cavity. The damage was too great and he died about 36 hours later. I'm very upset that I lost a friend because...

Don't let those stomach problems go untreated. I spent Friday night and Saturday afternoon at the visitation/funeral of a friend who had stomach problems for the last couple of months. He just tried to fight through it without seeing a doctor. Last Monday he perforated an ulcer and died...

Can I age at 70 degrees?

Not one home winemaker in a hundred has the wherewithall to take a room or closet, insulate it walls floor and ceiling to R-50, and install an AC unit to cool it. That should not discourage us from making wine. I have yet to be in a wine shop that is kept at 55 to 58F. My wines are...

    how long to keep sanitizer

My kitchen scale is only accurate to 0.5g. I could use my reloading powder scale, measuring out 771gr. It is accurate to 0.1gr. That, however, is way too much like work.

Can I age at 70 degrees?

Many of us are stuck storing wine at room temp. It is not ideal, but you have to work with what you have.

    how long to keep sanitizer

Take a whiff of the bottle when you open it. If it knocks you on your a** it is still good. Mine lasts several months in a sealed jug.

Mosti Mondiale Vinifera Noble Pinot Noir

If you really get into this hobby you will probably eventually buy a vacuum pump for racking. Many of us have. You can vacuum rackFROM a Better Bottle, but not TO a BB. You can only vacuum rack to glass.
