Hi all, I'm just about to make some white wine from fresh grapes for this year and I am doing 2 batches. First batch will be Malvasia and second Sauvignon Blanc. In previous years I mostly always made Chardonnay and Riesling and pretty much stuck with those for some time now. I am trying out something new and I was wondering if any of you have some experience in blending white grapes.

1. If anybody has made wine from Malvasia grapes, would it be a good idea to blend it with another or just stick with one variety.

2. Also for Sauvignon Blanc, has anybody had good results in blending it, if so which grape would be best??

Traditional blending grape with SB is Semillion. And while I like SB and prefer it vs Chardonnay, I really like Sauvignon blanc/semillion blends.
Yes that sounds really good. The only problem I have the place where i get my grapes doesn't have Semillion. The only white grapes they have is Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, French Colombard, Moscato, Thompson Seedless and Malvasia Bianca. You think any of those could subsitute for Semillion?
